About Us:
Chhattisgarh state was created on 1st November 2000.The State Institute of Rural
Development started functioning in a rented building from 1st November 2002. Honorable
Prime Minister of India inaugurated the new SIRD building on 30th April 2005. Since
then SIRD has become the premier training institute of the state. The SIRD campus
is situated at Nimora on National Highway 43 (Raipur- Jagdalpur Road ) and it is
about 17 km from Raipur city.
SIRD is Chhattisgarh's apex body for undertaking training, research, action research
and consultancy functions in the rural development sector. It works under Ministry
of Panchayat and Rural Development Government of Chhattisgarh .The training programmes
are intended to create knowledge base, develop skills and understanding of various
dimensions of rural transformation.

Panchayat Development and Training :
SIRD conducts training programmes for the Chair Person & Vice Chair Person, Sabhapati
of Standing Committees / Secretaries, Members and Chief Executive Officers of Zila
Panchayat and Chair Person & Vice Chair Person, Sabhapati of Standing Committees
/ Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayat. Extension Training
Centers/ Panchayat Training Centers (ETC’s & PTC’s) organise training programs for
the Members of Janpad Panchayat, officials at block level, Sarpanch and Secretaries
of Gram Panchayat
