PROJECT
ABSTRACT: Objectives: 1. To
develop a model for public sector forestdepartment that meets present as well as future needs of all the stakeholders; 2. To make
in-depth stakeholder analysis that can contribute for development of the
sector as well as to conserve bio-diversity that can operate in a
constrained public finding; and 3.To make a comprehensive review of KFDC
as well as KFD so as to improve the commercial orientation and viability
of both organizations.
Methodology: The study is based on a six fold methodology comprising of a
comprehensive review of literature as well as documents of the KFD,
collection of information on perceptions of all the stakeholders with
emphasis on employees perception, work load analysis, etc. Data pertaining
to quality aspects were collected in the form of five point scale as well
as semi-structured interviews, while quantitative issues regarding work
load analysis, conservation aspects etc. were collected through a
scheduled questionnaire that was administered across all levels of KFD
(Stratified sampling method). The study is conceptualised on four inter
related modules viz. Vision, Goals and Roles of Kerala Forest Department,
Organization Structure and Systems, Human Resource Development and
Organization Culture and Management of Change: Strategies and Processes
apart from a separate module on Kerala Forest Department Corporation.
Draft reports on each module has been submitted and workshops on each
module to collect ideas and to improve upon them were held at varied
intervals in Trivandrum. Based on the inputs provided, a final report
incorporating changes and recommendations to make KFD a model organization
is expected to be susbmitted by June, 2001.
