PROJECT ABSTRACT: Objectives:1)To facilitate development practitioners/thinkers to share/compare/critique actual and ground level experiences in "official" development cooperation (with the state and with northern bilateral and multilateral agencies), to better comprehend the changes in funding policies/instruments and their implications for people and for NGOs working with them; and 2)from this exercise, to develop a frame of reference for restrategising NGO/CBO responses to trends in development cooperation, to legitimise/safeguard/expand their intervention spaces, and to improve their access to (official)development funds, minimising the risks involved; 3)to generate data that could better inform on-going dialogue within German NGOs and the German Government, the German Government and southern Governments, southern Governments and NGOs - on why and how policies/instruments of official development coopertion can be made more responsive to the task of capacitating the marginalised.
B)Methodology: The study will facilitate three pre-selected NGOs (who have development cooperation with the state and with northern bilateral/multilateral official aid agencies), to document and critique their cooperation experiences and their implications for their own organisations and for the communities they work with. The NGOs identified are: Organisation for the Development of People (ODP);Agriculture Development and Training Society (ADATS); Association for Voluntary Action and Service (AVAS).

TITLE: NGOs networking: pevention and eradication malnutrition women and children (Action Research)

PROJECT ABSTRACT: Objectives: 1)To establish a sustainable system of regular advocacy, communication,education, nutrition information strategies and ensuring community participation through social mobilization; 2)Net working among concerned GO functionaries, NGOs, PRIs and Community and 3)To strengthen the NGOs in designing and implementation of the programme aimed at improving the nutritional and health status of women.
Methodology: The three tier management and monitoring system has been adopted. PRA technique has been used in making action plans for implementation by NGOs.
Study area: Bikaner District, Three Blocks;Bikaneer, Nocha and Kolayat and 66 villages.

PROJECT ABSTRACT: Objectives: (1)To examine the programmes undertaken by voluntary organisations for tribal development;(2) To know the profiles of voluntary organisations and their personnel; and (3) to find out whether they are professionally skilled and psychologically oriented to perform their role in the field of tribal development, etc.
Methodology: Study is selected three predominant tribal districts, one each from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Information is collected from 93 personnel from Voluntary Organisations and 174 beneficiaries of Jhabua, Dahod and Banswara districts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan respectively.

OBJECTIVES: 1. To study the role of PRIs in pre disasters, during disasters and post disasters situations;2. To examine and evolve mechanism to empower PRIs and local community including the NGOs to cope up with disasters based on the recent experience of super cyclone in Orissa or earthquake in Gujarat; and 3. To suggest measures in improving capacity building of PRIs in disaster management.
METHODOLOGY: Information would be collected from the disaster affected families through group discussions and in-depth interviews.
